Missile products place extreme demands on optical sub-assemblies.  In the modern age of precision engagement and standoff capabilities, the optical systems of hypersonic missiles require solutions that challenge the limits of technology. There is a need for reliability, repeatability and extreme accuracy in an environment beset with large temperature swings, severe vibrations, intense shock, hostile gases and airborne particles, and acute pressure swings. In addition to intense environmental challenges are rigorous performance requirements; missile sub-assemblies must be manufactured in compact, lightweight packages. Also, missiles must withstand long periods of stowage with no degradation in performance.
